Now that the semester is coming to a close, I've realized that we are on a pretty good track to finish the doc by the end of the semester screening.

Week of 4-26
It's been a while since I posted a blog, but so far it's going well. We are finalizing our posters and website. We are also finalizing the doc, putting in B-Roll and shooting the T-Shirt scene. I feel pretty good about our doc, it seems to be really smooth and I think will fit nicely into Faiza's feature doc.

Week 5
Last week was Spring Break and I went up to NYC. I went more for a vacation, but being that I was headed up to the big apple, I took a camera along with me. I filmed the school's exterior in Brooklyn as well as a few other school-related things. The school is in a really sketchy side of Brooklyn and I was really nervous about being there. While walking from the 'nice' side of Brooklyn to the school, we had to pass the projects and the really rough part. I can really see why so many parents were hesitant about sending their children to the school. But alas I was able to get some usable footage for the final doc. I believe Abby and Faiza worked on constructing a roughly 20 minute outline of interview footage for the final. I have not seen it yet, but we are meeting tomorrow, so I'll see it then.

Week 4
Week 4 has gone pretty smoothly. All three of us met to work on the project and we decided to start over on the timeline. Not only because we needed to work with converted footage, but I feel like we have a really good starting point.
We've started on a little differently as far as the timeline goes, but we are trying to be really conscious of pacing and b-roll placement.

Week 3
I feel like this week has gone really smoothly. Even though the only time that all three of us could meet was Wednesday evening, we were able to talk through our problems and concerns and get something down on the timeline. Throughout the week, each one of us had our individual assignments, mine was to learn how to screen capture the articles that we needed. This didn't work the way I was planning, the resolution ended up being really pixilated. I talked to a couple of people about it and I am working on fixing it.
I think, for our next presentation, our project will be more defined. I am hoping to get more found footage on islamaphobia and am going to work on the resolution of the screen shots in after effects. We'll see how it goes : /

Week 2
This week, we worked on converting all of the footage through MPeg StreamClip to ProRes 422 HQ, something that FinalCut will agree with. It took us a while to convert everything and to put it all from Faiza's hard drive to Abby's hard drive. We've decided to use ABby's hard drive as the primary hard drive. After we converted everything, I worked on renaming all of the clips within Abby's hard drive. Everything is working within Final Cut and we have a solid foundation to start working on the film.
I feel like we are falling behind where we should be, but being that it has been so hard for everyone to meet, I think we are doing everthing we can. Abby and I are meeting for a few days next week to work on the found footage section and I believe Faiza is working on the interview portion at home.

Week 1
It has taken me a while to get to writing about my first week working with Faiza and Abby on the doc... sorry. We set out by talking about where Faiza's vision of the film is going, and what we are going to do for this class. Being that Faiza is planning on turning the film into a feature and still has more filmming to do, we are making a 10 minute segment of the film that Faiza will add into her final feature.
This week we worked on organizing all of the footage within FinalCut. It took Abby and I a while to name all of the clips and to organize them into the corresponding bins. The problem with this was that the footage wasn't converted yet, and so it seemed that we spent all of that time re-naming all of the clips and organizing them for nothing. We worked on converting all of the footage and re-naming it within the hard drive the next week.
